My kids have been chomping at the bit {pardon the cowboy expression, I’m feeling ranch-ish today} to carve our pumpkins. We don’t usually do it until the night before Halloween because of tradition, and pumpkin shrinkage if we do it any earlier. My solution this year? Magazine pumpkin faces.
Cut eyes, ears, mouths, & noses from magazines and pin them onto your pumpkins. My kids loved this and it gave me a few days of reprieve before the pumpkin cutting begins.
Mine is on the right, C’s is on the left. For some reason he’s obsessed with pregnant women, so he cut one out for his pumpkin. P is still creating hers. *cough cough*, perfectionist.

awesome idea…love it!
Jill,
Thank you! It's pretty fun.
Dude. I pretty much think that everything you do is awesome and should be dipped in glitter, but honey, those pumpkins are CREEEEPY.
And not "Edward Cullen Creepy" but creepy-creepy.
:)
Hilarious!
Erin O.
They are a little on the odd side. Which is why they're perfect for Halloween; it's all about the weird on Halloween!
Lucy,
Random huh?
Melissa,
Kind of random but entertaining…
What do you make of C's preggo obsession? Hmm…
Naomi,
It's kind of random right? Dunno, it might be the fact that I talk about wanting babies day and night.
What a fun idea!
Inspired! Very whimsical. One year we decoupaged our pumpkins (I'm a freak for ModPodge) and they turned out wonderfully!
Breeders,
I would love to do that. I'm a fellow in the Mod Podge freak society. I'd do my whole house top to bottom if I could.
Pregnant women? C is a hoot!
Marie,
who knew? pregnant is the new hot.
Thanks for the fun idea, we had a blast doing this today. My 3 year old was in heaven with all the cutting, arranging, pinning, etc. Here's my post about it today! http://trishathemommy.blogspot.com/2009/10/magazine-pumpkin-faces.html
