We are slowly building a collection of children’s Christmas books to enjoy during the holiday season. Read more about that here. We read a lot of books with our little ones and it’s nice to emphasize special occasions and holidays with an appropriate book. We have come across a few to consider this year. These two seem particularly lovely.
Letters from Father Christmas by J. R. R. Tolkien
Tolkien is a brilliant mind, whether fantasy is your genre of choice or not. I love that Father Christmas sent personal letter to Tolkien’s children each year, and that a book has been made of them! The illustrations are especially nice.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
the original story is a must read for everyone, but this illustrated adaptation seems like a great choice for very young readers to enjoy.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a classic like A Christmas Carol. We like to go with the funny and inappropriate like There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Sleigh.
my mom started a tradition of reading us a christmas story every night in december until christmas, with the christmas story out of luke being the last story on christmas eve. and i love it! it's a fun tradition. some stories are funny, some are heart felt. some are about santa, some are about christ. she compiled a book for me to use with my family… i just thought i'd share the idea!
ha ha sorry, i guess i didn't read your link to your tradition first… so i guess now i'll just say it's fun that we have the same tradition!

We had these my favorite was a cajun night before christmas with alligators instead of reindeer and of course is set in a swamp.
