— This is a re-posting of an article from last Summer’s archives. I hope you have as much fun reading this post as I did writing it. —

I love a good facial. Who doesn’t? You get to feel pampered and your skin looks beautiful when you’re done, but for those of us on a tight budget a facial can be a deal breaker financially. The solution? A facial at home. You can whip up the ingredients for this at home facial in the time your toddler takes to eat her cheerios, all with ingredients found in your kitchen. Probably.
Here’s what you need for your At Home Honey Facial:
- half a banana
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
You have this stuff lying around your kitchen right? Precocious and I whipped this up in no time flat, and 15 minutes later were gorgeous and smooth with our new inexpensive home facial. Fabulous.
First of all, take your half a banana and mash it up in a bowl using a fork.
Use a fan paintbrush, the same kind artists use, to spread it on your face. It’s a small thing to use the right brush, but it will make a difference in the way the facial feels going onto your skin and it’s completely worth it.
Spread all over your face in a thin layer {I applied three coats} and let it soak into your skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Once your time is up rinse your face with warm water and pat dry with a towel.
Voila. Get your skin foxy at home in the space of 20 minutes for nothing at all. My skin felt completely smooth and moisturized after I was through. I don’t know if it was the honey, the banana, or the orange juice, but I’ll take it.
