Through hard work & determination I have lost 40 pounds which has been amazing to show my kids that if you put your mind to it you can do anything. We have learned to eat healthy and enjoy life that much more. Although I have lost the weight I have not been able to afford any new clothes which sometimes can be funny because I have had to make new holes into my belts and well I’m wearing baggy things that just a year ago were super tight. I would love to be able to try on clothes that are really my size. I have gone into stores and “daydream” shopped so I KNOW I’m a size 6 which I hadn’t been since my oldest 13 yrs ago. So this would be just an amazing thing. Thanks so much for the chance to give my belts a break!

I’ve been a Rue La La junkie since they first launched. In fact, I should have a category in the budget dedicated to it. I’d spend that $500 in no time, believe you me.
This is cute – My mom is in her mid-eighties and I am in my mid-forties. My life is busy, busy, and I don’t get to see mom much. I took her out for lunch on Presidents’ Day and we had a great time. The one thing I will always remember is how she ordered her salad with the “home” dressing. She didn’t mean to say home, it just came out that way. The waitress and I got a kick out of it and now we call it the home dressing too. As she explained, a house becomes a home when you fill it with loving people. Damn, she’s smart :D

I’m very happy to say that my grandma survived the storms/tornado in Harrisburg, IL yesterday, along with other family members that still live there. Not sure if it’s made national news or not but the Walmart they keep showing is like 5 minutes away from her. I was terrified yesterday morning when I woke up and my phone was going nuts from other family members asking about her. So all is good in my world. Love ya grandma!

On the way home from preschool today, we passed a field of cows. Lots and lots of black cows. And they were right up at the fence, which was right up next to the road. Every time I see Busy Phillips I have to say out loud (even if I’m with someone who’s already heard it, and even if I’m alone!) that my ex-fiance went to a birthday party she was at about ten years ago. (She was college friends with a high school friend of ours.) And that is my meager claim to fame.
I would have to stop wearing yoga pants everywhere. Yikes.
I think my hair is growing too fast. I’m going to have to have it cut again.

i’m wondering how your children felt about seeing the similarities between your husband and his fellow countrymen… they must have noticed their own characteristics in those around them in Poland. I imagine it was a unique and special experience to watch them discovering that side of themselves. Congrats on being able to make that trip a reality!

I would love to win this for my daughter that was born with JRA (juvinile rhuemitoid arthritis) and is getting all her joints replace, so far she has had both hips and knees replaced, next are her hands, but her clothes now, nothing fits and she’s really bummed about that, she loves how much better the joints make her feel, but is self conscious about how her clothes look on her now.

Love the blog. Seriously. I just read your post about Poland and I had the same experience in Finland. Every woman over 60 looked just like my mother in law (a full Finn). I can’t even really explain it, except they all had these rosy huge cheeks and smiley eyes.
