road trip, baby.

So, it’s time for the road trip. It’s 11:30 p.m. and I’m not packed yet. The kids are packed, the car is packed, Victor is packed, but I am not. I’m in denial that we’re leaving tomorrow because I’m not totally organized. I don’t have individual presents wrapped for the kids to open every few hours like I normally do {best travel tip ever, by the way}, the house isn’t clean, and Victor is working the night shift. I’m trying…

Utah Photography Giveaway!

The Dylbug photography contest not only yielded fantastic product shots for Dylbug’s new Summer line, it introduced me to a new Utah photographer: Jennifer Eliason. I love her work, it’s just my style. Jennifer has offered to give away a photo package to a Petit Elefant reader from Utah including: a free sitting, free 8 x 10 and free 5 x 7 photos. That would be a $140 value. Head over to Jennifer Eliason Photography, tell me what you love…

baby decorations for nurseries.

Mares eat oats and does eat oats and…Oh such pretty things for babies and mommies and even grand-mommies. Child to Cherish features lovely heirloom gifts and other special items; the kind bound to earn many an “ooh,” “ahh,”  and “oh how sweet” at the next baby shower you attend.  Child to Cherish knows that gifts for baby should be soft, and that mommies love anything sentimental. They’ve achieved both with their charming piggy (or elephant) banks, the very softest animals…

tooth fairy pillows.

My little P bless her heart, is like a little jack-o-lantern pumpkin right now with her teeth. They come, they go. Mostly, they go. It softens the blow a little bit though, when you have one of these kicking around the bedroom. Tooth Cushion {via Letter M Design} $35 Honestly? How cute. There’s a little pocket for correspondence between your child and the tooth fairy {those all-important notes} where your child can also leave the tooth, and find his/her loot…

amazing wireless photo card.

photo card

I’m getting ready for my family Summer vacation and I can’t wait to take my new Eye-Fi card on the road. I first learned about Eye-Fi at Mom 2.0, where I learned what celebrities feel like with flashing cameras in their face all the time. It was awesome. This amazing guy named Ziv shot the whole weekend, and uploaded it onto a Mom 2.0 flickr site. What I didn’t know until the night of the Mardi Gras party, is that…

memorial day movie pick: band of brothers.

Several years ago Victor and I spent a slew of Winter nights making our way through the epic miniseries Band of Brothers. It’s a breathtakingly realistic portrayal of the true story of Easy Company, “506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers’ journals and letters, BAND OF BROTHERS chronicles the experiences of these young men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear.” I’m watching the series on…

birkenstock sandals.

I’m the child of two hippies, so it’s no surprise that I’ve always loved Birkenstock’s. I mean I’m literally from a family of tie dye wearing, granola eating, Volkswagen van driving, hippies. It goes without saying that I’ve always had a pair of Birkenstock’s in my closet. They’ve never been particularly stylish, but they’re undeniably comfortable and when you’re doing lots of hiking, camping, and granola eating, you need comfortable shoes. I’m telling you, the winds of change have come…

top 11 reasons to get married.

Happy Anniversary honey! Here’s to another 11 years, more or less. Top 11 perks about being married to Victor: I never have to wonder what he’s thinking. Ever. I know the second he thinks it, because it comes straight out of his mouth immediately thereafter. He has no filter, and it can be very entertaining. He takes care of me. Puts me to bed when I’m tired, feeds me when I’m hungry, leaves me alone when I need quiet. He…

online kids clothing store.

Looking for a little something, something to dress the kids for Summer vacation? Moxie Kids is one of my favorite online retailers for all things kinder. I’m thinking this shirt would be adorable for our celebration of the 4th of July, it even has the capitals of each state printed on the inside! Dogwood State Flag Tee $23 {via Moxie Kids} A little something to go with the shirt, for the boy who can’t stay out of the mud? Umi…
