Ju Ju Be has officially created the greatest beach/pool/picnic bag of all time. This bag does everything but take out the trash, and next year’s model will probably be able to do that for you. It is made from Teflon fabric, so it’s relatively indestructible and totally durable against the elements and it has every possible storage compartment you’ll ever need. It’s roomy enough to hold all the pool gear for my family of four with room to spare. Now…

Old Wives’ Tales
Mike and I have our ultrasound appointment on Wednesday. We’re going to find out the sex of our baby! And of course, there’s not one or another that we’d prefer. We’ll be happy to have a boy for a lot of reasons and happy to have a girl for just as many great reasons. So I thought that I’d share some of the fun with you, and you can weigh in on what you think we might be having. To…

Our playroom, like many, is a dizzying menagerie of brightly colored plastic. Which is fine, but really, who doesn’t love quality wooden toys for their heft, simple appeal, and environmental soundness? Among M’s most beloved toys are the wooden choo choo train and semi truck that were made for him by a talented relative. I display them proudly. I can only imagine his joy were he to receive one of these super-cool oversized trucks on his upcoming birthday: Cito forklift by…

beijing summer olympics 2008.
Only one more day until the official start of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. I don’t know about the rest of you but the Olympics are my favorite. Athleticism. Inspiration. Heroism. Achievement. Perseverance. I love all of it. And how cool is it that one of the top contenders is a mom? I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on Dara Torres. She rocks. Photos found here and here.

Keep Calm and Carry On.{via sfgirlbybay} $25. I know I’m completely late to the party on this one, but I’ve loved these from afar all along. Victoria {aka sfgirlbybay} has created the perfect print for those of us who need a little reminder to take deep cleansing breaths once in a while {o.k., I’m totally one of them}. I’m thinking my laundry room is the perfect place to put one of these beauties; that way when I’m in the middle…

TV Dinners Revisited
Back in the day when my parents hired a babysitter for me and my sister, we considered having TV dinners a special treat. The salisbury steak and apple cobbler came in aluminum divided trays that went in the oven (not the microwave) ’til all their sodium and preservatives were cooked to piping hot perfection. I think we only found them edible because of the fun divided plate! I’ve been searching for something similar in function, but better looking in form. …

custom made books for kids.
The First Adventures of Incredible You. {via Custom Made for Kids}. $32.95 Custom Made for Kids has created a really fun gift idea; a personalized keepsake book called “The First Adventures of Incredible You“. P doesn’t know it yet, but she’s getting her own customized book for her 9th birthday this year, and I for one can’t wait to see the look on her face when she reads it for the first time and discovers all sorts of personalized details…

Baby Projects
I am a Design*Sponge devotee. I read it and a couple other design blogs for my work, and collect images of current trends, of things I love, and of potential inspiration. Last week, on DIY Wednesday, I found this wonderful gem. Now Mike and I already have a mobile for the baby, but I can’t wait to think of ways to incorporate these sweet birds into the baby’s room (which is still a storage room right now). Full instructions for…
