10-year-old book reviewer.

Hello the wild, wacky, & weird world! Precocious here. I’ve been BEGGING & BEGGING mom to let me post, and it’s always gone out like……………………….

Me: Mom, can I guest post this week?

Mom aka Petit Elefant: Sure baby doll!

One week later…

Me: Mom, can I guest post this week?

Mom: Sure baby doll!

One week later….

Well, you get the idea.

Here’s a few of my VERY favorite books,(Mom had to delete some):

1. Fablehaven, Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary: A new series that is absolutely MARVELOUS!If you are planning to read it aloud, I would vote that you read it first, and read it to an over 7-year-old, at the least.

2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: An all time favorite,(just ask my 4 aunts who adore Ron)it’s just like dark chocolate. Either you hate it, or you love it. A great series with magic and mystery.

3. The BFG by Roald Dahl: An absolutely amazing writer, author of Charlie and the chocolate factory, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, and so many others that are just as great.

4. The Incredible Journey: A book that my dad has been pestering me mercilessly forEVER to read. Once I did, I LOVED it. A story about two dogs and a cat that run away from home to find their family, who went away for the summer.

5. A Voyage From Poland During World War II: A fantastic story about a 12-year-old girl who flees Poland with only her father and a few possessions to America to live with her Aunt, Uncle and cousins.

6. The Indian in the Cupboard: A book that my mom has been pestering me to read. A great story about a cupboard that transforms plastic figures into real miniature people that can eat and move around.

7. Chasing The Dream: A book in the series Dolphin Diaries that is about a girl that lives on a boat with her parents and a few researchers that sail around studying dolphins. A good series that is great for girls from 10-12.

8. Alice in Wonderland: A good book that my aunt gave to me for my 9th B-day. It’s about a girl who falls through a hole following a rabbit with a pocket watch and a vest, and that’s only the beginning. I read it in two days, which is my slowest record for a 162 page book, except for Harry Potter, which if I scour each and every page, usually takes me a week.

Those are my book suggestions for kids 7-12 or grownups. It took me about an hour to take all the pictures with my new camera that my Babcia (that’s Polish for grandma) gave me for my B-day. Well it looks like my time is up, I’ll see if I can come back tomorrow and hopefully this doesn’t happen:

Me: Mom, can I guest post tomorrow?

Mom: Sure baby doll!

Tomorrow…

Me: Mom, can I guest post tomorrow?

Mom: Sure baby doll!

Then it goes so on and so forth. Bye everyone!

I thought you post was awesome! thanks for the great book ideas – those are all really great – have you also read 'the Giver' – I like that book also…
Maybe if you can't post on here all the time you should start you own blog!

  2. kim @ mommyknows :

Wow, great post. You chose some really great books. I wish my daughter loved books this much. She is the only one of our family of six that doesn't love books.

  3. Camille :

You are quite the reader! The BFG was one of my favorite books back in the day as well! I hope my daughter has a love for books like you do! And keep trying to convince your mom to guest post more often! :)

Nice to meet you, Precocious! I'm glad your mom let you do a guest post…now I'm thinking about letting my oldest do one on my blog!

Those are all amazing books- I've read all but a few myself. my daughter doesn't seem to have the book bug like I do. So- from a 10yo point of view, what kinds of things did your parents do to get you to love reading so much?

Keep on reading. And writing- you have talent, this made me smile!

  6. likeschocolate :

Alison, Just wanted to let you know that Sears has the Lands End Jean on sale for $38 instead of the regular $59 price. I know you liked these as much as I did. Will be thinking of your family when I am in SLC tomorrow. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

  7. The Breeders Digest :

The Incredible Journey is just that…Incredible! I bought a copy for my 9 year old son for Christmas and I hope he'll like it as much as you did. If you like Dolphin stories….have you read "Island of the Blue Dolphin"? I read it when I was 10 and I adored it.

    chrisnjoenava,

Thanks!I think I will try 'the Giver'. I've heard lots of great things about it.

    Erin,

I DO absolutely love to read! And yes, I never do get bored if I have an unfinished Fablehaven laying around.

    kim@mommyknows,
I can't believe that ANYBODY for that matter wouldn't love to read. It's unbelievable!

    Camille,
Don't you love Roald Dahl? He's one of my favorite authors, excusing J.K.Rowling and Brandon Mull.

    Donna,
Thanks Donna! Tell Tank hi for me, OK?

    psumommy,
Well, they just stuck me in a room full of books, and lo and behold I just went to town! To me, that's heaven on earth.

    david-and-shellie,
how old are you, to have a cousin around my age? yah, yah, sure. I ALWAYS have to ask permission even to play a game, and the chances that she says yes for THAT? one in a million.

    vanessa,
I haven't yet, but mom has been pestering me for a long time to read it, along with my teacher.
