Hello there! I'm Allison Czarnecki, founder + editor of Petit Elefant, a blog all about style on a budget for every part of your life: style / home / travel / family. I do a lot of how-to beauty + style tutorials, travel posts, easy recipes, home remodel projects, and cool DIY crafts you totally want to try. I'm super happily married (to a hot Polish immigrant) and am the mother of two kids, a daughter and son, all of whom are featured here on the regular. We live in the country but we're a little bit rock + roll. Welcome!

  1. Beth :

This trick makes a big difference!

    • Petit Elefant :

      It’s true it totally does!

  2. Anne :

The awesomeness of your I’m A Pepper lunchbox was distracting me. I think I’m going to try this, though.

    • Petit Elefant :

Sorry to hear that! I’ll try to crop it out of the background next time. Thanks for the feedback!

  3. Rachael :

My beady little eyes could use this!

    • Petit Elefant :

      Your FOXY beady little eyes…

  4. the emily :

I love it! I can’t believe how great it looks. Do you think it would work if I’m wearing contacts, or should I do this before I put my contacts in?

    • Petit Elefant :

I’m wearing my contacts in this video, which is probably why I keep my eyes closed for like 15 seconds when I blink. I say before, otherwise you’ll have a hard time getting them in without getting eyeliner on them.

    • Mabel :

I know my eye doctor tells me to always put eye make up on *after* my contacts are in, so definitely already be wearing them.

  5. Dina :

Okay so my VERY first thought when I read the post title was Plumbing? Seriously plumbing? Why would you even need to LINE your water lines and what the heck do you do it with?… Um never mind I get it now and think I’ll try it. How would it look with navy liner?

    • Allison :

Dina, I know less about plumbing than I know about rocket science. I leave all that nonsense to my husband.

As far as eyeliner, yes yes, do navy!

  6. Nelka :

I love it! My mom used to do this with her eyes in the early 90’s, so I followed her example. Time marched on and I’ll admit that I kinda forgot about this. I tried it again today after watching your video (awesomeness) and I think it may become a normal thing for me again. Thanks for the reminder and the fun video how-to.

    • Allison :

Nelka, I’m so glad you liked the video, I’ve totally got this eyeliner trick in my daily arsenal!

  7. Trainer Momma :

Sometimes I feel like it makes my eyes look smaller. What do you think?

    • Allison :

It definitely makes them look smaller, but it defines them in a way regular eyeliner won’t. It’s a total trade off.

  8. Lisa :

I think it looks great, but I worry about the chemicals in the eyeliner being absorbed right into my system.

    • Allison :

True, totally true. Anything that goes on your skin gets absorbed though, whether it’s on the water line or not.

I’d try one of the more natural make-up lines like Aveda that uses natural ingredients if you’re worried about it.

  9. amy b :

can you move to san diego so we can bff’s? this is awesome, i had forgotten about this make up trick but will be doing this tomorrow.
ps-that lunch box made me laugh :)

    • Allison :

If you can figure out a way for me to afford San Diego? I’ll move there tomorrow.

      p.s. I’m a pepper

  10. kj :

I tried this yesterday and my contacts ended up so dirty after an hour I had to take them out and clean them. :( Bummer because my eyes looked good!

    • Allison :

      Serious! Noooooooo!

Try waterproof eyeliner or eyeshadow instead. Maybe another tutorial….

  11. Erin Oltmanns :

This will STUN you, but I do this with a green liner (MAC Buried Treasure) or a dark purple. Makes my hazel eyes POP. Then I put on my REI clothing and the effect is lost, but whatevs.

    • Allison :

Dude, you are a smokarooni, smokeypants hottie. Your REI doesn’t fool me for one single second.

  12. Leigh Anne :

Can you use powder or cream/gel eyeliner? I am horrible with a pencil and only semi-horrible with a brush, moistened if I am using powder.

  13. Jenny :

I did this today, and while I had flashbacks of jr high, it turned out much better than that!

  14. Melissa :

Is it the blinking that gets the liner on your lids or did I miss a step?
