Make your own DIY bath bombs at home with just a few inexpensive ingredients.
Author: Allison Czarnecki - Petit Elefant
Recipe type: DIY beauty recipe
Serves: 12 bath bombs
Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid
½ cup Epsom salt
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon water
a few drops of your favorite essential oil
dry pigment (optional)
bath bomb molds / cupcake tins
Instructions
In a bowl mix together the dry ingredients: baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, and cornstarch, and dry pigment (if using)
In a separate bowl, mix together liquid ingredients: coconut oil, essential oil, and water
Very carefully and slowly, add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients, being careful not to allow bubbling from the liquid meeting the citric acid
Quickly mix together with a whisk or a fork, until completely combined
The consistency should be like a slightly wet sand that clumps together when you squeeze it
Once it's mixed, very quickly scoop mixture into both sides of the bath bomb mold until both overflow
Press both overflowing sides of the mold together until they meet and hold for about 15 seconds
Leave in mold for at least one minute
Pull mold apart and gently set bath bomb somewhere it can sit for at least 24 hours
Repeat until mixture is completely gone
If using cupcake tins, press mixture into the tins until compact and follow above directions
If mixture is too dry to stick together, add more coconut oil or water to the mixture until it's the right consistency and the bath bombs can hold their shape without crumbling
Once bath bombs are completely dry, they're ready to use
Fill a bath with hot water and drop a bath bomb (or two) into the water
Enjoy!
