2 Ways To Style Your Fall Boots

Fall Boots

Why Fall is the best season, for style, reason #1: boots.  BOOTSBoots.  Any kind of boots you can get your hands on.  I’m partial to riding boots, but ankle booties and cowboy boots also don my closet shelves.  I’m not so much picky about the kind of boots, just as long as I get to wear them once it cools down.

How do you like to style your boots?  There are so many different ways to wear them, and they go with almost anything, (maybe the only exception is swimsuits?)  but today we’re going to focus on 2 ways to style your favorite pair.

Probably my most favorite Fall + Winter go-to outfit with boots is the following:

  • leggings
  • tunic
  • chunky jewelry + accessories
  • boots

Like this outfit I’m wearing below, this style prescription is the most (well, MY most, anyway) foolproof way to get dressed in the crispier months of the year.  I wear a variation of this outfit all the time.

I recently added two new pair of boots to my wardrobe and am loving styling them a myriad different ways.  In addition to leggings, you can also wear super skinny jeans under your tall boots and layer with a long tee and a chunky sweater.  So cute!  These gorgeous tan boots from Johnson & Murphy are my new most favorite and go with almost anything you can think to wear.

My next favorite way to wear boots is with a skirt or dress.  Especially cute?  A shirt-dress.

Throw on your favorite skirt or dress and a pair of boots.  Just make sure you have some distance between the top of the boot and the bottom of your skirt/dress.  It looks better visually for there to either be a few inches of space between the boots and your clothes OR for your boots to be barely covered at the top by fabric, like folded jeans above the boot or a skirt that hangs down a couple of inches.

Make sense?

I like this combination a lot:

  • black leather full zip boots
  • mini dress / shirt-dress
  • scarf
  • big purse
  • whatever jewelry you’re comfortable wearing (I like big chunky stuff, but I don’t wear big earrings if I’m wearing a scarf like I am here)

If it had been even 5 degrees colder I would’ve thrown on some leggings or tights (black probably, but off-white or a pop of color like pink or red or even navy blue would be fun!).

There are honestly so many ways to wear a good pair of boots, but these 2 combinations are my favorite.  And how cute are both these pairs of boots?  They’re made of such gorgeous leather and hand detailing on the soles, I just love them.

What do you think?  How do you wear boots in the Fall + Winter months?   Do tell.

Love this, and love boots. Haven’t been able to wear over the calf boots since high school due to very muscular calves. Not muscular now of course. My sister recently introduced me to an awesome store called Avenue. The carry all sorts of awesome plus sized clothes and BOOTS! I bought my first pair of over the calf boots in almost 20 years this weekend!

Amber, thanks for the head’s up! I know so many women who can’t wear boots so I love hearing about other resources, thank you!
