The secret to amazing looking skin

I don’t need to tell you I’m obsessed with facial care.  I whip up homemade beauty recipes at least once a week: yogurt face masks, carrot facials, you name it I’ve tried it.  I’ve also tried practically every product on the market promising to make me 17 again.

Hint: I’m not going to be 17 again. Ever.

For a few years now I’ve had the Clarisonic in my sights thinking it’s exactly what I need, the secret to amazing looking skin of women everywhere!  I’ve been coveting one of those whirring face brushes which is, I know, #10 on the list of no-no’s from on high, but it’s true.  I covet.  A lot.  Sometimes.

The secret to amazing skin

So a few months ago while wandering around Costco, as one does, loading up on 6-packs of deodorant and ginormous bottles of vitamin C, I ran across the more budget friendly version of the Clarisonic: a face brush by Olay.  Since I’m such a huge, huge fan of Olay I snatched one up for under $30 and took it home for a test drive.

This thing is a game changer.

Seriously my skin is amazing when I use the face brush regularly.  It’s waterproof so I can use it in the bath or shower, either with the facial cleanser it came with or my favorite, favorite, favorite (favorite) luxurious facial scrub Strivectin.

Guys, the secret to amazing looking skin?  It isn’t so secret anymore.

I saw this at Costco a few weeks back. Glad to know it works! I’ll definately have to try it next time.

Ok, number 10 on the list of no-nos for facial care? Or on the “this is too expensive” list? Because I just might have to get one of those! I am almost forty, have never had any skin issues….until now.

I think she meant that “thou shalt not covet” is one of the 10 commandments ;)

So this really works? And you can see a difference? I saw it as Costco, too, and contemplated it; now I might have to commit to a purchase.

This Olay face brush is amazing. I have been using it for almost a year with no problems, and have received many complements on my skin. Seriously, my skin has never looked so good. I am tempted to spring for the Clarisonic with the bigger head to use on the rest of my body.

I wish, wish, wish I could agree with you all. I too coveted the Clarisonic, dreaming of how it would magically transform my skin. When I mentioned this to a good friend earlier this year she said ‘don’t pony up for that, here, take my Olay version, I don’t use it’. Full disclosure statement: I have rosacea, a cretinous condition that means my skin is sometimes so reactive and inflamed that I won’t go out in public. For months, sometimes years, at a time, I won’t have a problem or if I do I am able to cover it pretty well. No dermatologist has ever been able to pinpoint what the triggers are for my flare ups. Anyway, at the time I had the brilliant Clarisonic/Olay idea, my skin had been calm and incident free for about a year. What could go wrong, right?? I used the scrubber ONCE. And I loved how it felt. Unfortunately, within a day of using it, my skin went completely nuts and suddenly I was in the middle of the worst outbreak/flare up ever. I am pretty sure my skin was not happy about the scrubber. It took me three months, a serious prescription and a steroid cream to get it under control again.
I know I’m kind of rambling here but if you have very sensitive, reactive skin, you may want to think twice about the scrubbers. Sadly.

Agree a hundred percent with Samantha, do not use scrubbers on your face. The ‘glow ‘ comes from irritation of the sebaceous glands and that way lies premature skin ageing. Talk to a reputable dermatologist and see what they say. Garance Dore covered the whole facial scrubber fallacy pretty well so I’m surprised that people are still pimping this product..

I’m new to your site via your pore mask on Pinterest (which I’m DYING to try) and I went to look for the StriVectin product you were using and it says “scrub”… the one thing I’ve read and seen adamantly is to NOT use the brushes with a scrub. My Clairsonic (thanks for the Christmas present, Grandma!) says is repeatedly. I think it will do what “theperfectnose” means above… strip your skin. It says to not use any granular scrubs with any sort of beads in them. I use mine with smooth face washes and I love it. Just don’t overdo it! :)
