Summer is fun, isn’t it? Seriously, summer is my saving grace during the long, cold Utah winters. Sometimes I go weeks at a time during a freezing, slushy March just dreaming about the summer, when all things are possible. Summer in Utah really makes up for the miserable winters, and we spend summers swimming, barbecuing, camping, horseback riding, hiking and playing in the mountains, kayaking, and hanging out on the back yard deck.
I’m super excited to be partnering with Kohl’s #DestinationSummer to share some fun summertime ideas in Utah, because you should definitely visit. Utah is absolutely amazing, especially in the summer. We got all dressed up for this fun summertime idea, and you’ll understand why below.
This summer we’re not traveling like we usually do, we’re staying close to home to have our fun since my baby girl is still sick after 3 months of non-stop vomiting. No big deal though, because Utah rules summer.
In fact, spending time under the stars is the best way to experience Utah in the summer. The days are hot and dry, and the nights are perfect and cool, just right for movies + symphonies under the stars, which is exactly what we did this week; we got all dressed up and as a family listened to the Utah Symphony Orchestra under the stars at the outdoor amphitheater Scera Shell.
It’s a pretty magical way to introduce the littles to the symphony. Less stuffy, more blankets, popcorn + candy.
Luckily it was a perfect night for the symphony. Just chilly enough for a sweater, warm enough to be comfortable. Mostly, lots and lots of fun.
What do you do in the summer for fun? We’ve already had plenty of fun in the mountains and at outdoor movies and concerts, and can’t wait to add more memories to the list. I’d love to hear what you do in the summer!
// Thanks to Kohl’s for sponsoring this content. As always opinions + naughty children are my own. Now I’m passing Destination Summer off to Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day! in San Francisco. She always has fabulous ideas and I can’t wait to see what she’s planning for you in San Francisco. //
