riding bareback.

Now that we have a horse we have to go feed him. Daily. I know. I wish he lived next to our house {he lives 20 minutes away} because it’s putting a damper on my schedule to go out to the pasture every day just to throw some bales of hay over a fence.

The kids are in hog heaven though; Precocious hasn’t been this happy in, well, ever.

The other day after we got the horses all fed and watered the kids decided they wanted to go for a ride. But they didn’t want to haul out the saddle and all the rest of the gear so they decided to go bareback. Apparently everyone in my family prefers to ride bareback. Huh?

Everyone but me. I only feel in control on a horse if I’m in a saddle, with stirrups, a saddle horn, and some reins. None of this bareback nonsense.

The kids did great.

Now look at Viktor on Reuben. He swears he prefers to ride without a saddle, he does it all the time. But look at him in this shot.

Now look at him here.

Spot the difference? Can’t be comfortable.

The only discomfort that I see is in the horses eyes.

OMGosh that is too funny! And are those pics taken with your new camera? Love them!

Fabulous pictures… maybe you could teach me how to use mine. And Victor: I can TOTALLY see the "shift" per say. Are you referring to the horses eyes as yours? VERY FUNNY.

When do we get to play with Reuben? The kids are going to FREAK! In a good way. Also…how are we going to compete with a horse? Images of Christmas mornings to come… Why don't WE have a horse. The cousins have a horse. WE need a horse. PLEASE! Thanks for nothing guys!

Reuben does look slightly embarrassed…

Victor,

Say you. It looked uncomfortable to me.

Emily,

Yes, and I'm in love with my new camera!

Kat,

I'm no professional, but I'm having so much fun playing with my camera!

ALC,

You name the time, I'll give you the place. We've ruined them for life, there's no trumping a horse for Christmas. Unless it's a companion for said horse.

Vanessa,

Seriously, anytime. He's a little *green* but good with kids.

Naomi,

At least he has the grace to do so, right?

You're family looks like they are straight out of a Ralph Lauren catalog! You should submit those photos!

Victor, I love your comment!

Marie,

You're funny. My kids though are the happiest they ever are when they're with that horse.

STILL can't believe precocious got a horse for Christmas. So fabulous that she's on a major bliss trip! And the bareback looks a little too nerve-wracking for me.

You have to feed the horse everyday? Deal breaker.

A horse that will let you/everyone climb on and ride bareback is a KEEPER!!

(but yeah, the feedings are sometimes a drag)
