Winner:

My most favorite mother’s day memories are the annual bike rides we took. I went from a seat on the back of my mom’s bike, to my own with training wheels, to a 10-speed, and we could reflect on my growth each year. To my mom, a great memory with her children was better than any gift, but because I can’t physically be with her, I’d love a way to represent the growth my brother and I have made through the years. -Amanda

I remember the last Mother’s Day my grandmother was alive. We all surprised her by showing up at her nursing home with balloons and a cake. She was so excited she was about to burst!

  2. Aarika :

My favorite mother’s day is going to be the upcoming one – my mom’s first with all her grandkids in the same town as her!

  3. Gina M. :

I don’t really have a favorite Mother’s day memory, they are all good but, one of my favorite things about Mother’s day is that I usually don’t have to cook! And having a day to be with the ones I love.

  4. Kylie :

The best Mother’s Day was last year. I had flowers and a singing telegram sent to my Mom’s house as a surprise. The messenger sang her “You Are My Sunshine” — which was my favorite song when I was a kid.

  5. Zoe Rickenbach :

I guess I do not have one favorite mothers day memory. But I do love being a mother and having my kids give me lots of hugs everyday.

  6. Valerie :

I always gift my mom with an iris corsage to wear on Mother’s Day… it’s a little way to make her feel special!

  7. Patty L :

I love having my family with me…going to church and then lunch (yay! I don’t have to cook!) and then doing whatever I want to for the rest of the afternoon. I always love when my kids put their personal touches on my Mother’s Day gift….last year they gave me a photo collage of events they were involved in from the previous year. I love it!

  8. Alecia :

I became a mom 7 years ago even though my son is now 8 years old. I became a mom through adoption. The moment I met that little one my life changed dramatically. I’ll always remember my first mothers day in Kazakhstan celebrating life’s miracle that brought us together.

  9. Tommye :

On a Mother’s Day when I was a kid, we all went to the lake to spend the day. We about froze to death, but it was great fun for our whole family…and especially Mom.

  10. Molly B :

This is gorgeous. . .I would love this! My three boys are my world, and I love being their mom!

  11. Andria :

I just love our traditions for Mother’s Day. We all get together to celebrate my mom and all the men do the grilling and cooking and cleaning. It’s wonderful.

  12. Erin B :

My favorite is Indian buffet with hiking! simple and a good time spent outside

  15. Karen M.M :

my favorite mother’s day was last yr because it was the last i spent with my grandma. All the girls in my family got together to plan a Mother’s Day dinner for all the moms on our lives. I had a great time celebrating witj my mom, aunts and grandma !

  16. Kirsten :

I always take my mother cosmetics shopping. I know she won’t spend money on high-end cosmetics, so I’ll do it for her! Last year, I got her Makeup For Ever foundations and an under-eye concealer, and this year I’ve started with a Tarte mascara and am saving the rest for a charity make-up gala at our local mall that we’ll be going to together.

My best was when my daughter was about nine. I’d just had my first son in January and N. decided to make me breakfast in bed. I don’t know where she came up with the horrendous cake she made. It was a vinegar cake (a little too much vinegar, Honey) and she wanted me to eat the WHOLE THING! Plus a huge plateful of fried apples, heaping glass of milk, green pancakes, and a lovely flower in a vase, and beautifully hand-drawn card, all piled on a tray I was supposed to balance on my knees in bed. My husband and I nearly spilled the milk and flower water laughing so hard. She stood there with an indignant look on her face when I tried to share the feast with my husband, her fairly new stepdad. “I have another whole plateful for you, Dad,” she said. I’ve never been so full in my whole life!

  19. Kimm W. :

My favorite mother’s day was the one when my mom got us mother/daughter necklaces. I still wear mine daily and get compliments on it all the time. I love knowing that mom and I have our own BFF necklaces.

  20. Jamie :

My mom would love this- thanks! I can remember one mother’s day when I was 10 or 11 and I made my mom a bubble bath! Thanks for hosting!

  21. Andrea :

I took my mom to see the B52’s for Mother’s Day a couple years ago, right before I moved away for the first time. It was so much fun and I can’t hear Love Shack without thinking of my mom and the lovely home I grew up in.

  22. Nadia :

My husband and kids let me sleep in for the first.time.IN.YEARS! Husband took all the kids out of the house as soon as they got up and took them to the park….I think…I didn’t care….I woke up to an empty house and slowly made myself some breakfast which my husband had already assembled together all I had to do was put the bread in the toaster and pour the eggs into the pan – took it upstairs to bed again and snuggled down with a book…..no gifts required – that was gift enough :) (although I think I did receive my token pajama’s and slippers – my kids call it pajama day, not mothers day) I was one happy Mama that year!

  24. emilie p :

Mother’s Day is only 2 weeks after my birthday so we don’t usually do presents for me. I do love all the love I get though

  25. Leslie Yiankos :

Best memory is giving those sweet little gifts you would make in first grade to your Mom then receiving those same sweet little gifts from your own kids . I kept every single little gift.

  26. Morgan W. :

I love seeing the sweet kids at church sing to the mothers on Mother’s Day.

  27. Indiana :

Every year just about, I either give my mother a book or an original poem. However, one year, I decided to give her some original artwork, framed and matted professionally. I also helped my dad prepare one of her favorite dinners…and to this day my painting hangs in her room. When I visit, I feel so close to her, and so proud, whenever I see it.
If I could, I’d give her the world, but those handmade gifts were a god send growing up poor in East Memphis.

  28. carey :

My best Mother’s day memory is my first one as a mother, I took my 3 month old twin girls to lunch with my mom…3 generations together..it was the best day of my life.

  29. Hannah :

My favorite Mother’s day memory is of serving our mom breakfast in bed, then going to church where all the mothers and future mothers were given carnations.

  30. Valerie :

    These are lovely!

  31. Sarah :

Maybe something is wrong with me because I cant specifically think of one Mothers Day that stands out as “the best” but,
I love Mothers Day! like really and truly love it, and year after year I hear women talk about how much they dread or hate Mother’s Day. I can not relate to that thinking at all.
I spend the whole day reflecting on how grateful I am to be a mother, how grateful I am for my mother and mother in law. Becoming a mother has been such a tremendous gift to me, no blender or bottle perfume can even come close.
But my husband does like to make chocolate waffles each year, which are fabulous!

  32. Jodi :

Every day is like “Mother’s Day” once the kiddos get old enough to take care of themselves!

  33. dgm :

My kids make me homemade Mother’s Day cards, and they are so funny and cute and creative. It always makes me cry, but in a good way.

  34. DeeDee V. :

I don’t know if I have a favorite memory, per se, but I love all the handmade gifts and cards my boys give me.

  35. Halley :

I think this necklace is beautiful! One of the best gifts I ever got for Mother’s Day was from my son when he was in second grade. It was little tags tied with ribbon and on each one was written in his hand writing all the things he loved about me or loved to do with me. It was one of the sweetest and simplest gift I ever received and I saved every single one. Thanks for the chance.

  36. Autumn M.P. :

Honestly I don’t have a favorite…every Mothers Day since I was 14 my parents have both worked in our family restaurant. It’s the busiest day of the year. I’ve only had one Mothers Day as a mom…I guess I’m looking forward to a day when my kids dive in bed with me …waffles in hand!

  37. B. Diesel :

My favorite/best Mother’s Day was the year I gave my mother a small potted rose bush as a present. She loves plants and has multiple wonderful gardens, and she was able to nuture the small rose bush into a giant one that she planted alongside her house. It blooms every year without fail, and always reminds me of how tenacious my mom is.

  38. Kim :

My favorite Mother’s Day was when I returned from the Air Force and I hadn’t seen my Mom is months. It was a special day filled with love.

  39. Natasha H :

Not really sure of my best memory. For me it is just a good day to be thankful for my blessings as a mother. Happy, healthy kids!

  40. mak :

The best mother’s day was last year. All 7 of us kids pooled our money together (plus some airline points!) and suprised our Mom with a trip to London where one of our sisters lives. Giving her that present was awesome!

  41. Valerie :

Oh, this is lovely! I’ve seen this jewelry around on the net but haven’t taken the opportunity to purchase one. I’d love to gift it to my mother! :)
