book pick: quiet LOUD.

Lately I’ve been trying to read books with C {my completely stereotypical 3-year-old boy} that will help him understand the difference between inside behavior and, well wild animal behavior.

Reading this book to C was an epiphany for him; I could honestly see the light bulb illuminate over his head when we read about things that make quiet sounds and things that make loud ones. His quiet and LOUD are the same volume. I’m always telling him to take it from volume 10 to volume 5 and he cocks his head {much like a wild animal} and looks at me like I’m crazy. So, thank you Leslie Patricelli for this illuminating, adorable book.

Sometimes I put out the fires and sometimes I start them. Sometimes I really do have it all together. Sometimes my children say otherwise. We just like to keep it real around here.

Gonna go right out and get this…my little guy just doesn’t understand “inside voice” yet. Maybe because we haven’t been “outside” in 3 months…That little cowboy is a charmer for sure!

maybe i need to get my hands on this book to see if it might help Autumn! at times it seems she’s inherited my affinity for intense volume… :)
