I don’t know about you, but my utensil drawer in my kitchen was a mess. M-E-S-S. I almost wish I had a before photo to show you so you’d believe what a train wreck it was. You probably don’t have a messy drawer anywhere in your house, but I do. I have plenty of them.
After a little bit of begging from me, Viktor created some organization, and made me want to marry him all over again.
The best part?
He used free stir sticks from the paint department of a home improvement store to create the dividers.
Organization is one of my favorite things in life, and I can’t believe how simple this project was.
Here’s how it all went down:
Viktor pulled the drawer out and organized the utensils. He made a pile of replicas, unused utensils, and random things that shouldn’t have been in the utensil drawer in the first place. What we didn’t need he donated, and then he separated the rest into categories. He created dividers 3 stir sticks high and nailed them into each other. Then he nailed another piece of wood to brace the stir sticks on either side.
My favorite part is that there are three separate spaces to keep it all in check.
The first one is everyday utensils: spatulas, a can opener, wooden spoons, etc. The second one is for measuring cups and spoons, and the third is for once-in-a-while utensils: a lime squeezer, tongs, & canning tools.
All in all the project took about 30 minutes.
Have you done any re-organizing lately? Something that makes you sleep better at night?
Maybe it’s just me.
