About this time of year, when things get really cold, I start spending a lot of time in the bath. A lot of time.
At some point last winter, I realized I feel much better if I add Epsom Salt to the water every time I hop in the bath. It’s a wonderful anti-inflammatory, in addition to having a whole host of other benefits. Plus, it’s super cheap; I’ve been buying it in bulk at the dollar store.
Here’s what you need for this project:
4 Tablespoons Baking Soda
This is a really fun thing to do with your kids, especially if you love ending up with salt all over your kitchen floor. No seriously though, the kids love helping me with this.
Now it’s time to add the Essential Oil. Pick a scent you can live with because essential oils are really strong and you’ll want to love the smell in your bath. Add about 6-8 drops. I added way more than that and it was too much, I had to dilute the mix with more salt.
I used essential oils from Laundry Tree, they worked just fine.
Here’s my monkey mixing; it’s his favorite part.
Now this is the most important part of all the im
portant parts. Put your bath salts in a cute jar so you can display it on your counter without embarrassment. I got this at my local big box for $6, and isn’t it cute?
Now shoo, go take a hot bath. It always helps me to read a trashy magazine like People while soaking, it ups the happy factor by 10.
