Dinner + a movie, that’s how we usually roll, on an early Thursday night matinee movie for date night at my house.  We’re a little bit gangsta like that.  I need to be in bed before 9 o’clock, and you know, school night!

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks everyone for entering!  Comment #93 is our winner.

valentine movie + dinner

Please tell me you’re less of an old lady than me and have regular dates at normal times of the day (and night).  Please bless you see a movie in the dark of night (not the afternoon matinee special I’m so fond of, just like the rest of the retirement community) and as you’re planning a little something with your Valentine it won’t include an early bird special dinner (my favorite!).

One of you lucky non-boring movie goers has the glorious opportunity to have a Valentine movie + dinner on us, Petit Elefant this Valentine’s Day.  Or whatever day, I don’t like to label what we have together.

Here’s the skivvy on this Fandango (onomatopoeia!) giveaway:

One (1) winner will receive:

  • $30 Fandango gift card
  • $100 Visa gift card

  • Leave a comment on this post
  • Be sure to include your contact info or you will be ineligible to win!
  • Giveaway ends Monday February 11th, 2013.
  • Winner will be announced at the top of THIS POST
  • Good luck!

If you need a little movie inspiration check out Fandango’s Valentine’s Movie Guide.  Bonus points if you recreate the scene from Ghost!

valentine's movie + dinner

Get nuts and play a little game to maybe, possibly, sometimes win a year’s worth of romantic movies.  (ooh! you could watch them in bed like me.)

Oh goodness; on the very rare occasion the husband and I go out for a movie, it’s always the 2:00 show – if we’re lucky, an affordable lunch beforehand. Not exactly painting the town! This would be an amazing excuse to go a little nuts and make it a true date night!

  125. TOMI C :

Just stumbled upon your site! Freakin’ rocks, woman!

Our Valentines / Lovey Dovey / XOXO Days in the past:

1st year-We were poor college kids, so we were good with a heart shaped pizza, and my choice of a chick flick, with the hubster (bf at the time) painting my nails/giivng me a man-version of a manicure at home- all very DIY minus the heart shaped pizza-Oh! And he got me a baby bird. :)

2nd year- Still poor college kids, but we were both a little sick, and he STILL surprised me with dance lessons (swing, salsa and other fun dances), afterward we were treated by our parents for a night out to eat and then a movie!

3rd year- Typical cards, candy and a night studying together for tests. HOT right?

4th year- A surprise walk in the first park we had a date at. Kids at work helped me pretty-up, so that made it even more fun/special. :) Picnic style.

5th year- He got into Geo-caching like crazy that year…so naturally he made himself a prize at the end of my very own geo-cache. Ended up in a hotel, with yummy treats and pretty flowers.

6th year- We worked, but he made it special by remembering after we got off of work to still have a little us-time. Cards, chocolate covered raspberries, and of course- PIZZA and Netflix!

7th year- Our first year as husband and wife. So we did husband and wife things like me still picking out a chick flick, me picking a super yummy restaurant, and getting pampered DIY style. :)

8th year- We are in our first home that we just purchased this passed year, so our plan is to work out together, stay indoors, cook up some healthy Italian yumminess, and HOPEFULLY USE A FANDANGO giftycard for the time after! :)

PICK US PICK US PICK US! :)

  126. Julie :

thanks for such a great giveaway :)

  127. jaqui mallett :

I love late movies!!! :) what a nice thing you are doing, we would love it!

  129. Meagan :

Love your awesome ideas! I’m just as old hearted as you, 9pm bedtime and I’m only 24. Hubby and I are newlywed college kids – we’d love a date night!

  130. Ruth :

Hello! I love your site. First time visitor, and I know I’ll be browsing all day (secretively…at work, you know!).
My man is rather cynical about this holiday. With your help…maybe I can put the little bit of sweetness and wonder back into it…no excuses right?
Every day of course is Valentine’s Day when your man does your laundry and cooks for you and takes care of your little one. So, this one, especially (well all of them) I would really like to make the holiday about him.
If I won, I can assure you my hardworking-educating-loving man, could really celebrate the way he loves best. Thanks for the opportunity!

  131. Heather :

This would be so nice. The boyfriend and I hardly ever go to movies because it’s gotten so expensive.

  132. Laura Jacobson :

Oh that sounds so wonderful!!! Thanks for the great giveaway! Hope Im not too late to enter :)

  133. Jill B :

This would be the most wonderful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! We exchanged our gifts last night (all homemade)– collections of love letters to open, one at a time, throughout the year. We were too excited to wait until Thursday. And as much as we wanted to go out this year, it’s just not in the cards for us right now. We would love so much to see so, so many $6 matinee movies and go to the local independent movie nights at our local theater and eat burritos from the little Mexican restaurant next door afterward– that’s our perfect date night!

Here is to hoping; we have our fingers crossed!

(And, shhh, don’t tell, I have you gelatin mask on right now– works great! Thank you! )

  134. rebekah felkel :

love love love spending time with my hubby at the movies and for dinner- but as new parents of now 2- its hard with time and money! would love the prize :)
