It’s the first day of spring! I wish someone would let the weather in on that secret. I’m itching to pull out my spring wardrobe, but let’s be honest: I’ve probably got a few more weeks left until that can really happen. In the meantime, I’ll try to transition a few pieces, and adding scarves is a great way to do that! Luckily there are several different ways to wear scarves that won’t add bulk to a curvaceous figure.
I’ve already told you how I’ve been afraid of scarves in the past. When I finally worked up the courage to give them a whirl I tried lots of different ways to wear scarves, but quickly found that simple was best on my frame. Long lines and not a lot of fabric around the neck and face is flattering for most plus size women. Eliminate the bulk!
So here they are, 5 ways to wear scares without overwhelming your body.
Simply draping one end of the scarf over a shoulder is a great look if you’re not wearing a jacket, but still want a little bit of warmth.
I love this one. You can adjust the “knot” up or down, as you like. For this look drape the scarf around your neck, then tie a loose knot in one side of it. Take the other end of the scarf and thread it through the knot. Voila! If you need a visual on how to do that watch here.
The fake knot is also really easy to jazz up with an accessory. I love the orange of this scarf, but when it’s paired with a solid top I feel like it needs a little bling. I slid the knot up closer to my face and clipped a pin right onto the knot.
I recently read an article that claimed plus size women shouldn’t wear infinity scarves because all that fabric is just too much! When I first put on an infinity scarf I had to agree–there was too much bulk! I really loved this scarf, so I played with it a little. I discovered that making one of the loops snug around my neck and having the other hang farther down created a more pleasant look. Give it a try!
Finally, you can’t go wrong with the classic drape around the neck. I love to wear my scarves this way when pairing them with a jacket. Simple, sleek, and little pop of color while elongating your silhouette.
And there you have five different ways to wear scarves, especially for plus size women.
