Catherine Gilbert Murdock {via Amazon.com} $10.88
I’ve been reading a lot of YA {young adult} literature lately. Lest you think I’m a bear of very little brain, I read a lot {4-5 books a week} and not all of it is YA. Young Adult just happens to be, in my opinion anyway, a hotbed of very very talented authors.
My new favorite is Catherine Gilbert Murdock author of my new favorite series, Dairy Queen and The Off Season. The narrator and heroine of the series, D.J. Schwenk is the hardest working, most loyal, likable character I’ve read in a long time. Murdock is an extremely talented author, I’m not the only one who thinks so, you can see a {lengthy} list of her awards here. I love her writing style and can’t wait to read more about D.J. and her life {the final book in the series is due this fall, hooray!}. Thank you Catherine, I love what you’re doing and look forward to many many more books in your talented future.

I'm Allison, founder and editor of Petit Elefant. I run the gamut from granola to glamour and love everything in between. I think the beach is always a good idea, as is Diet Dr. Pepper; on ice. Sometimes I put out the fires and sometimes I start them. Sometimes I really do have it all together. Sometimes my children say otherwise. We just like to keep it real around here.

excellent suggestion, adding to my list of next-to-reads. It hink reading YA lit is great for you, and bonus that Miss P will have your expertise to draw upon.
I completely agree that YA and Young Readers aswell have a plethora of talented authors! I read both regularly. Thanks for the suggestion, will have to request this one from my local library.
I am a 6th grade teacher and I love YA and I am not surprised that more people are finding it interesting. There is a lot of great stuff out there! Thanks for the suggestion!
I never stopped reading YA novels from the time I was an actual young adult to the present day. I saw this one in a bookstore a few years ago and have always wondered if I should hunt it down. Now I know I should. Thanks for the suggestion.
I liked Dairy Queen too, but when they got to the lesbian storyline, I felt like, come on, does every YA novel have to go there lately? Still, I did love DJ and I’m excited for the last book.
