new canon rebel EOS camera.

Friends, Christmas came early for me this year. Santa {that would be the Santa of me} brought mama a new camera. Something to replace my aging, dropped on, battery sucking Canon A560. Which incidentally really doesn’t take the most horrid photos on the planet. But I wanted more, because I’m selfish like that.

This is what I’ve been using. It’s a good one, but it’s seen better days. The lens doesn’t close all the way, I have to do it manually. The batteries last about 15 minutes, so I travel around with a recharger and two pair of rechargeable batteries and most of the time when I’m in the middle of taking a really good photo, it completely dies on me.

Exhibit A:

It was time for us to take a break from each other. It’s not the Canon, it’s me. Really.

I replaced it with this beauty:

The heavens have opened, the choirs are singing, and I’m so blissed out I can’t stop playing with it long enough to sleep at night.

{Sleep is for the weak anyway.}

Santa brought me the same one early too after the kids dropped mine for the second time and messed up the internal memory. I love it even if I haven't learned how to use it to it's full potential. I hope Santa got a kiss for that one.

I'm officially jealous. I've had my eye on one for awhile. I'm hoping I've been good enough this year for Santa to deliver one to me. Time will tell.

Congrats on the new camera. DSLRs are SUCH a big improvement over any point and shoot.

I'm so happy to read this! I thought I was the weird one…. my lense doesn't close and the batteries are always dead! Oh well, I guess I'll have to talk to santa…

YAY! You are going to love it!

Merry Christmas to you!

I keep saying I'm going to upgrade to an SLR every time I get a new camera and really commit to learning aperture and shutter speed and then when the time comes I always buy one that is smaller than my current camera. I'm afraid I will never bring my camera along if it doesn't fit in my purse. Lame, I know.

We have a similar Canon beauty. We postponed buying it until last year. Now we're kicking ourselves for not buying it sooner! We practically tuck it into bed at night after a kiss and hug!

I love that you are “blissed out”. What a great thing to be. Your writing is so good. It makes me happy. You will love having a nice dependable camera to take pics with and if you are like me you will never want to put it down.
