ItzaBitza computer game.

My kids are enthralled with this new computer game. ItzaBitza is a clever computer game that incorporates your children’s own drawings into the fun.

Don’t be fooled by the hokey graphics, this game is a total win with my kids. They fight over whose turn it is to create a little world of their own, and the game has gotten superb accolades from the best in the business.

Your child helps the characters {aka Sketchies} by providing them with “new objects into the game world. The creativity comes in when your child discovers this freedom to explore interactions and push boundaries. A whimsical dance of cause and effect plays out.”

Trip updates (with videos)

Hello.

We finally got a few moments to gather our thoughts and dirty laundry and I started to look through and download some videos that we took on our Flip. First of all, let me tell you how cool this Flip thing really is. I know that there has been a whole lot of much-to-do about sponsored blog posting and the FCC, etc. But this one is from the heart (although we did get one to check out and review previously):

The Flip is neat and I never thought that I would like it. Once I started using the Flip, it quickly became apparent as to why I liked it: I was using it. Simple as that.

We have owned video cameras for most of out married life. Altogether, I think we have a total of 30 minutes of video from day=1 to day=4015. Although typical camcorders have 400 buttons and functions that rarely get used, the Flip does not; one big red button and you’re recording. I think this device will fit the needs of most “recreational” video users. The Flip gets used because it is small, fits easy in my pocket or murse (man purse) and has a >> find out more…

road trip through napa valley, California

On our way from Lake Berryessa to San Francisco we drove through Napa, and yes it really is that beautiful. We don’t drink so it didn’t hold quite the luster it might have for you connoisseurs of wine, but the drive is gorgeous. I hear the right time of year is in the Fall when the grapes are all out in their glory. It probably smells amazing then too. But it was absolutely perfect for us in June.

Next time through, we’re definitely stopping to check out some of the amazing wineries.

houseboating in napa valley.

We started out our three week adventure down the coast of California with a bit of a *bump* but now we’re well on our way and having the time of our lives. Our first stop after Reno {which I’m not counting; we were there less than 8 hrs.} was Lake Berryessa in Napa Valley, California.

I had no idea there even was a lake in Napa before this vacation, but there is and it’s beautiful. Lake Berryessa has apparently been around since the ’50′s as a product of the Monticello Dam; it’s pretty huge too: over 160 miles of shoreline. The lake is absolutely stunning, all different shades of turquoise, green, and light blue; a total boating paradise, which is perfect because that’s what we were there to do.

We were guests of Forever Resorts at Lake Berryessa for two nights, on this houseboat. May I just say? maybe house boating is one of those things it’s best not to know about because you don’t know what you’re missing.

I was terrified to take C on a boat for two days because, well he’s C, and can find trouble where there is none, but it was honestly >> find out more…

cookie magazine.

I’m loving my latest issue of Cookie Magazine. In fact, I love every issue of Cookie. It’s the perfect mixture of practical parenting advice, cool gear, and hip ideas. I don’t feel like a fuddy duddy reading it, more like a hipster who happens to be a parent.

A great idea to keep the mounds of kid artwork accumulating in your home.

A circle themed birthday party for kids. How clever!

And chic decorating on a budget.

getting stuck in the bonneville salt flats.

Total Trip Time: 00:02:30:00; and then I get this bright idea.

Hello friends!

What is the best way to keep things interesting on mile 60 of a 600 mile trip that will eventually drags out for another 3000? That’s right; find the stretch of HWY that makes absolutely no turns for 80 miles, and…..

“Evasive maneuvers! Hard to port!!!”

And then I say to myself: “Self. Situations like this are exactly the reason why engineers invented differential lockers. ‘Heck’ this Land Cruiser has one for the front axle, one on the rear axle and then one in the middle between the two. With a setup like this we’ll be out of here in no time”

Wrong again. Apparently, four wheel drive only gets you stuck twice as deep. So we get out and look around…

So this is how I got things started. Lesson learned. Most importantly though, the real lesson to be learned here was to always know where you are. Thing will happen; flat tires, overheating, etc. But telling the tow truck Co. over the phone “Well, I’m in the middle of nowhere.” Does very little in getting the truck out to you.

And of course I’m sure … >> find out more…

family road trip.

Hello again, Victor here.

So with this trip we decided to leave the trusty Subaru at home and hit the HWY in the biggest thing that there is; a Toyota Land Cruiser. Because you never know what curbs might need crossing. It’s not the FJ40 that I used to have a few years back, you know, the kind with no doors, no roof, no floor, and a folding wind screen; but it’s the kind with four doors, AC, and a solid front axle. We figured that fuel is not the $1.30 like it was in the fall, but it’s not $4.00 either. Oh well.

Follow us on our trip here on Flicker. We’ll be using Eye-Fi and AutoNet Mobile to upload as we drive so pretty much, you’ll be seeing things real time people. These photos will be geo tagged as well, so you can also see exactly where these photos were taken as well.

summer of fun.

I’ve been a busy girl, a very, very busy girl, and it’s time to tell you what I’ve been up to for the last little while.

For starters, I’m now writing for Rocky Mountain Moms Blog, an affiliate of the Silicon Valley Moms Blog. It’s a great place for me to vent my fears and anxieties, and issues about being a parent, openly chastise celebrities, and anything else I care to write about. The writers on all the affiliate sites are amazing; I love being involved with Silicon, it’s a terrific group.

I’m also writing for another amazing site Car & Caboodle, since I just can’t get traveling out of my system. And because I’m married to Victor, who can’t sit still on a weekend for the life of him: must travel at all times. We’re taking what is sure to be the trip of a lifetime this Summer, driving down the coast of California for three weeks. A trip that we actually leave for A WEEK FROM THURSDAY, ahhhhhhhh!

I’m going to be sharing my adventures with you, travel-diary-style with flip videos, fun adventures {C is sure to fall in the ocean at least
