frédéric fekkai haircolor.

Just about the time the Grey in my hair was threatening to take me hostage {shhh, don’t tell anyone} I received some of this in the mail. Perfect. I love everything Frédéric Fekkai and this was no exception.

Fekkai Salon Color.
{via Bloomingdale’s}.

$30.

This color turned the Greys a lighter brown {phew!} and the rest of my hair a lovely chestnut Brown, all from the comfort of my own home. Really, I’m one of those gals who prefers to color my hair at home, {again, don’t breathe a word to anyone} and this was a bit more fun because it comes with a professional mixing bowl and a brush so it felt a little less seedy than the regular box I use.

For you moms out there who don’t have the time/money/childcare to go to a salon to combat your Greys, consider the new hair color line by Frédéric Fekkai. While your child might be screaming at your feet while you color your hair, and you probably won’t be catching up on US Weekly while your color sets, at least you’ll be taking care of yourself with the best product out there. And I, for one can’t >> find out more…

Wow! I’m salivating over those jeans because not only are they smoking hot, but because in a month or so I will no longer have a need for stretchy maternity jeans and I’d love such an awesome pair of jeans.

gift ideas for kids: an apron.

I became acquainted with Amy’s Etsy shop, Vintage Fern, after receiving a stellar blog-swap package from her. I was so smitten with the goodies she had made that, when I needed 4 birthday gifts for a whole gaggle of nieces, I knew exactly where to turn.

Vintage Fern specializes in, well, vintage fabrics and styles that manifest themselves in aprons, dresses, handbags, and even children’s t-shirts with precious applique like birdies, butterflies, or monsters & aliens. She makes fun pieces for grown ups and young-uns alike, but I think her children’s items really take the cake.  And Amy is fantastic about doing custom orders, and doing them quickly.
For the little girls in my life, she made these adorable little aprons to my specifications. I’m told they were a smash hit at the birthday parties. These photos do not do justice to their cuteness.

And I couldn’t resist one of her Monster/Alien T-shirts for my little, ahem, monster. M and I both love it, and it warrants compliments whenever it’s worn.  With an accompanying “ROAR!” naturally.

fabric headbands.

Blossom.
$14.99
{via Pinkbench}

Is there a mama out there who doesn’t need the help of hair accessories in the hustle and bustle of her daily life? I for one, need all the help I can get. I love Pinkbench for their plentiful stylish headbands, which happen to be adjustable, so they fit mother and daughter alike. My favorites include blossom and brown garden, but it’s hard to choose just one to love.

Brown Garden.
$14.99
1 1/2″ fabric headband.

kiehl’s.

The Kiehl’s products I own are among my absolute favorite in my make-up bag, so it’s amazing to me that until now I wasn’t aware that Kiehl’s even had a line of baby products. Well they do, and they’re great.

Baby Cream for Face and Body.
$18.
6.7 fluid oz.
{via Kiehl’s}

I can’t get enough of the Baby Cream for Face and Body, a thicker lotion for babies which has been, “Infused with a very carefully selected blend of vanilla, apples, pears, and sweet berries for a pleasant scent, leaving baby’s (and mom’s) skin smelling fresh.” It has a very mild hint of fragrance; just enough to smell lovely without overwhelming you, or your baby.

Baby Gentle Cleansing Milk.
$17.50 for 8.4 oz.

Kiehl’s Cleansing Milk goes on like liquid silk, and superbly cleans every nook and cranny of the little babe without irritation. All of the ingredients are natural, making the cleanser smell fresh and clean. I love it and highly recommend it, especially to mothers of children with allergies. Well done, Kiehl’s.

not a diva shirts for girls.

I’m not a big fan of “diva” or “princess” shirts for my daughter. It’s a personal preference really, but I’m kind of feminist that way. I don’t want my daughter to think her only value as a girl is in the role of a princess or diva or whateverelsedemeaningsomeonecanmarket. So as you can imagine, I’m more than a little thrilled that I found Ava’s Closet, creator of such shirts as: “Doctor Not Diva” and “President Not Princess”. These fantastic shirts or onesies range in size from a size 0 to a girl’s size 6. Now, if only they made them in my size. Two of you will win a shirt/onesie of your choice: Doctor Not Diva or President Not Princess, each valued at $20. Giveaway details below.

Giveaway Guidelines:
  1. To enter leave a comment telling me which empowering shirt from Ava’s Closet is your favorite.

  4. Two winners will be chosen and announced Monday September 15th on Petit Elefant.
  5. If I don’t hear from you within 7 days to claim your giveaway another winner will be chosen.

back-to-school giveaway #6!

Lark and Loon is an amazingly cool children’s clothing company full of one-of-a-kind, artist commissioned pieces for kids age 2-12. I love the age span because it’s so hard to find something age appropriate for P, as most kid lines don’t go up to her size, and the designs are so great for any age. Not only that, Lark and Loon donates a portion of their profits to Americans For The Arts, which we love, of course. Lark and Loon is the sponsor of our next fantastic giveaway of a matching set Treehouse Drop {$38} and Treehouse Pants {$20}. Giveaway details below.

.

Giveaway Guidelines:
  1. To enter, pick your favorite artist on Lark and Loon’s commissioned artists page and tell me who you’ve chosen between now and Wednesday September 10th {Midnight MDT}.
  2. Leave only one comment please.
  3. Anonymous comments will be deleted.
  4. One winner will be chosen and announced Thursday September 11th on Petit Elefant.
  5. If I don’t hear from you within 7 days to claim your giveaway another winner will be chosen.
  6. Good luck!
