build-a-bear workshop.

Build-A-Bear happens to be one of P’s favorite places on earth. All the adorable little accessories, the outfits, the underwear….oh it’s all too cute to stand. Any time we venture into the mall P persistently asks if we can just “take a peek” in Build-A-Bear so she can get a general idea of what to start saving for with her allowance.

So when Build-A-Bear sent us a {gasp!} High School Musical Build-A-Bear before it even hit the shelves, I hit the all-time peak of parenting coolness. Turns out the combination of High School Musical + Build-A-Bear= bragging rights on the playground.

$22.
High School Musical Bear
{via Build-a-Bear}.

I never can keep the love all to myself, so this post turns into a giveaway/happy ending. One of you will win a $25 gift card to Build-A-Bear when you comment on the post. Use it as bribery, an afternoon together with your kids, or {shhhh} a stocking stuffer for Christmas {we still believe in Santa around here}. See giveaway guidelines below:

High School Musical Slippers.
$6.

Giveaway Guidelines:
  1. To enter the Build-A-Bear Gift Card Giveaway, leave me a comment telling me what you/your kids love about Build-A-Bear.
  2. Leave only one comment please.
  3. Anonymous comments will be deleted.
  4. One winner will be chosen and announced November 24th on Petit Elefant.
  5. If I don’t hear from you within 7 days to claim your giveaway another winner will be chosen.
  6. Good luck!

my niece would die for this. she loves everything about build a bear.

2 Hannah November 17, 2008 at 11:44 am

My daughter begs to make a build-a-bear every time we pass it in the mall. She would love this!

3 Jan November 17, 2008 at 11:57 am

My granddaughter is the world’s biggest build-a-bear fan. We started the tradition on her 1st BD where we go together and build a bear – she’s now 5 and you’d think she would tire of it. But no – she loves her bears! This would make her day.

4 Beth H November 17, 2008 at 12:02 pm

I don’t really know what my son would love the most about build a bear because we haven’t been there yet. I’m sure he would be enthralled with it and I bet he would get a kick out of the recorded voice addition!!

5 Traumajunky November 17, 2008 at 12:13 pm

My daughter loves that they always have something new – clothes, bears, other animals. Always something for her to go back and get. I like that you can personalize them so much. From the sound boxes (the recordable one is really cool), the hearts and all the clothes…. it’s a positive toy for kids of all ages! Thanks!

6 Sonya November 17, 2008 at 12:21 pm

Gracie’s favorite part of Build A Bear is after they stitch up the bear and put in the heart, she get’s to give the bear a bath. She loves that sound.

7 Jenny November 17, 2008 at 12:23 pm

I approve this giveaway.

8 Lori Hall November 17, 2008 at 12:27 pm

All 3 of my girls and I love Build-a-Bear. My absolute favorite trip there was my daughter’s 4th birthday before moving out of state. We invited all her friends. Now this is the part I LOVE… For a birthday party, each guest gets a little heart to put in the birthday child’s bear. Now, even though my daughter is in a new town and has to make new friends, having that special bear helps her feel like she brought a little piece of our last home with us in her friends’ hearts. That was the best gift ever!

9 Libby Design November 17, 2008 at 12:32 pm

My little guy is really into dressing himself, and I caught him trying to put HIS socks and underwear on his stuffed animal the other day. Hilarious!! So I’d love to take a morning to do a “mommy/son date” to build-a-bear where he could pick out an outfit that would actually FIT his bear!!

Great giveaway!!

10 cdziuba November 17, 2008 at 12:39 pm

My son got his Koala Build-A-Bear that he named Mate years ago. To this day ….he stills sleeps with Mate every night, and I’d love to win this for him. He’s a wonderful son. cdziuba@aol.com

My girl is only 8 months old, but when I saw the new reindeer set at Build a Bear, I couldn’t resist.

12 Joseph November 17, 2008 at 1:05 pm

I love that you can personalize your Build-a-Bear making it a one-of-kind special gift.

13 Melissa B. November 17, 2008 at 1:28 pm

14 sarah November 17, 2008 at 1:34 pm

my 4 kids think build a bear is the bomb . . . picking and choosing as they please is the best. Can’t not love how soft and cuddly they are too.

15 {littlefam} November 17, 2008 at 1:39 pm

i love build-a-bear! we have a pet bulldog and we got my daughter a bulldog from build-a-bear. this gift certificate would be perfect to get some outfits for the bulldog!

16 tritty74 November 17, 2008 at 1:53 pm

My kids love dressing them and all the outfits to choose from

17 Giulianna November 17, 2008 at 1:55 pm

I love the entire “Building” experience. My youngest daughter has never had this opportunity yet, so I cannot wait to do it with her. I think she will love it! Especially because they have the Tinker Bell outfits now.

18 Sheila November 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm

My 10-yr-old loves the fact that she makes her animal exactly the way she wants it…soft and cuddly or stiff so it can stand…with different sounds and clothes.

I used to find it fun when they used to make the child hop around the room and do funny things like rub the heart against her funny bone so the animal would have a great sense of humor…but our local B-a-B doesn’t do that anymore. They just stuff it and sew it.

Even so, my kiddo still likes to go A LOT. We just went yesterday as a reward for a good report card!

My seven year old daughter is a huge Build-A-Bear fan. Whenever anyone asks her what she would like for a present, she always answers “Build-A-Bear anything!” If I won this prize, I could take her to the Build-A-Bear store and have an awesome mother/daughter day at the mall.

26 Noelle November 17, 2008 at 2:42 pm

my kids love build a bear because it’s a place they’ve never been….ever. their imaginations go crazy on what’s going on in that store of unknown funness as they crane their necks for a sneeked peak as we shoot by like a lightening bolt. “keep going” i say. “You mom hates stuffed animals”. speaking of myself of course. so if i were to win, my 3 year old daughter would finally be able to see what is behind the curtain….

27 Kimberly November 17, 2008 at 2:55 pm

It seems like I turn into a little kid again every time I go into build-a-bear!

28 kathy55439 November 17, 2008 at 3:11 pm

29 follmatz November 17, 2008 at 3:24 pm

My son loves picking loves the whole process of creating a personalized bear for himself or for others. From picking the bear he wants, inserting the heart, getting it stuffed and having it’s air first air bath. The best part is seeing his smile when it is all done.

30 Jana November 17, 2008 at 3:49 pm

My little cousing loves all the choices offered!

31 mverno November 17, 2008 at 4:03 pm

me and my grandson would love builing one of these bears

32 Holly November 17, 2008 at 4:05 pm

We have six kids, when we have gone to Build-A-Bear, I like that each child can create their own bear and make it unique to fit their personality. In making thier “own” bear, they are each unique and different.

Wish we could afford to go again.

Okay I admit I am the one who loves buildabear. The animals are all so adorable.

42 Karen Scoffield November 17, 2008 at 5:19 pm

I love that Build a bear is always adding new things and trying to appeal to what kids are into at the time unlike most companies that get stuck in a rut and never improve products! My 2 1/2 year old has not been yet but he is just getting to the age where I know he would LOVE it.

43 -Steve Eason- November 17, 2008 at 5:28 pm

My daughter loves Build-a-Bear. It’s the must stop place when we go to the mall. She loves to dress up her many different BaB dolls with anything she can get her hands on. A great experience for her being able to create her own.

We haven’t been to Build A Bear yet, buy my kids are begging me to bring them. They heard from their friends how you stuff your own bear and put it’s heart in it. How cute! I think the kids would be thrilled “building” a friend of thier own.
Thanks so much for this wonderful giveaway.

48 Cadmar November 17, 2008 at 7:41 pm

my son always asks if we can go to build a bear when we are in the mall, he really likes that he would be able to dress the bear and make it the way he would like it.

49 joe November 17, 2008 at 8:13 pm

My daughter’s two favorite stuffed animals are her Elmo from Build a Bear and a pink bear we bought there for my wife when she was sick.
My daughter loves BAB!

50 Sandra November 17, 2008 at 8:17 pm

My 5 year old grandson thinks he is Alan Jackson so he would have to find a country bear and my 2 year old grandson thinks he is an NBA player so I guess a basketball bear would thrill him. I have as much fun as the boys. blackford56@yahoo.com

51 cstironkat November 17, 2008 at 8:28 pm

Alison the dog lover would like the stuffed husky. He is so cute.

52 Jenn S. November 17, 2008 at 8:35 pm

53 abbygirl November 17, 2008 at 8:45 pm

Our three granchildren can at least for a short while agree on something. They all love Build a Bear. Grandson 7 is really into Superheroes (but still loves his bear). Grandaughter 4 1/2 is a “ballet star” and the little one almost 3 is a “gymnast” in training. They all have their bears and appropriate outfits. Can’t go to the Mall without a visit to the Build-A-Bear Store.

54 Debbie Barr November 17, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Um, so, I totally want the build-a-bear gift card for me. I love that it’s pretty much doll dressing… but for cute adorable little stuffed animals!

55 Rachael November 17, 2008 at 8:58 pm

I like to go and look at all ” before deciding what to make. I like that I can put a recording in my bear, but the best part is filling the bear with “Love” as I kiss the red heart and put it inside.

56 okbarbie5 November 17, 2008 at 9:03 pm

What I love is the look on my grandchildrens faces when they go INTO Build a bear…what I don’t like is trying to get them OUT of the store!! They want to buy everything…what is a grandma to do?

57 Midwestern Gone Idahoan November 17, 2008 at 9:49 pm

What more is there to say then – it is build a bear!! My kids – not just my daughters – LOVE the store!! All four of my children have build a bear workshop bears (or something – pooh bear is one!) My kids and I made their daddy a build a bear for fathers day one year. He is in construction – so the bear has a worker belt, boots, hard hat (like daddy does!) and when you press his paw, it has the kids saying ‘we love you daddy!’ How cute is that!! They love to play with it when we visit daddy at work!

58 mvbarton November 17, 2008 at 9:54 pm

We love stuffing the animals and putting the hearts inside.

59 Jennifer J. November 17, 2008 at 10:28 pm

My kids love build a bear because it is a stuffed animal, but mostly because they feel like they “built” it themselves. They like to have a part in designing a “one of a kind” creation.

60 Hayley November 17, 2008 at 10:49 pm

I love how Build-A-Bear is an experience as well as a tangible gift. That way you give your kids the memory of making their special friend!

62 agaddie November 17, 2008 at 11:31 pm

We made our first trip to Build a Bear last week with our daughter who is about to give birth (due in 3 days)to our first grandchild. We had such a wonderful time, took lots of pictures and made a bear that giggles. We plan to make it our family tradition to take each of our daughters to make a bear for their newborns as they come along!

63 Rebecca Graham November 17, 2008 at 11:40 pm

I like the whole experience of building a bear and having the quality time with my grandson.

My poor kids, do you know how many times we have walked by build a bear and NEVER gone in or given in to actually buying one? I dont know what it is they live about it, could it be the walls filled with outfits? the myriad of animal options? I dont know, they just do.

shel704@aol.com

87 Shelley K. November 18, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Build a Bear is just the greatest place. I just love that you can put a message inside. That you can have an “id” chip put in just like cats and dogs. You can make your bear (or whatever animal) as plump or skinny as you want which is also great.

It is fun for kids and those young at heart!!

88 Estelle November 18, 2008 at 12:10 pm

I love that kids can design their own bear and express their creativity when they make their own bear, then they can show it off! How cool is that?!

105 valmg November 18, 2008 at 8:06 pm

What I like best about BuildABear is that there are so many animals and ways to dress them that it’s hard for two people that go together to have the exact same.

106 vmkids November 18, 2008 at 10:52 pm

The kids love being able to make their own the way they like and make those choices.

My daughter has never “built a bear” but I’d love to take her. We’ve never been able to afford it in the 4 years shes been around. Her father and I built her a bear there when I was pregnant for something special for her arrival and I’d love to take her and share that with her!

111 Brooke Lorren November 19, 2008 at 12:13 am

The employees are so great at Build-A-Bear. My kid’s bears have gotten dirty (they even survived a fire) and I have had to wash them… they let me take them back to get restuffed. They have some wonderful clothes and accessories there too.

112 endrase November 19, 2008 at 1:09 am

My daughter’s favorite part of shopping at Build-A-Bear is looking for new outfits for her furry friends. What I love most is the staff. I have never been into our local BAB and been disappointed by the smiles and enthusiasm of everyone working for BAB.

113 Kelly November 19, 2008 at 1:43 am

What I enjoy about Build A Bear is the adorable outfits. It’s such a brilliant concept. I know someone who would absolutely love that gift certificate, too!

I am still not ready to let the whole world know (but you know who this is Petit Elefant.) At age 31, I am 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I am still so in shock I have not bought one baby thing. If I win, the build-a-bear would be the first official gift/item for the baby. (PS-Keep up the good work Petit Elefant. This blog is amazing.)

I think if he was in control of creating his own special friend, they’d be friends for life. I’d love to take him someday, thanks for the possibility!

137 coriwestphal November 19, 2008 at 11:17 pm

My daughters favorite part of the Build a Bear experience was the bathtub. So cute! They put the animal in the tub and the shower head blows air onto it and you “wash” your animal. Fun! Thanks for the great contest!

At Build a Bear, you get to pick an stuffed animal, stuff it, pick out clothes, brush him, and enter him in the computer. My daughter LOVES Build a Bear! Thanks for the giveaway.

Build a Bears are absolutely the cutest ever. I love the stores too!

The great thing about Build-a-bear is the experience. You get to build/create your very own friend (bear or other adorable animal). Picking out clothes is another fun experience. You are not stuck to one pair of clothes. You can have as many outfits as you want. You not only put the animal’s heart inside, but you put your own heart too while creating your adorable friend.

My kids love the opportunity to personalize anything and being abel to do that makes these even more fun than just purchasing a regular plush from the store.

My daughter just turned 4 and has never been to Build-A-Bear. I have been myself when they first opened and loved the whole idea of it. My favorite part is that you get to make your own birth certificate! Too cute! I would love to win this so I can take my daughter there for the first time :) Thanks!
