Kate & William’s royal wedding style

kate and wills

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s a wedding at Westminster Abbey today.  Some kid named William is marrying a pretty girl named Kate MiddletonOh, my bad.  By the time you read this her name will be ‘Catherine’.  Kind of like how Tom Cruise calls Katie Holmes ‘Kate’.

Much more sophisticated that way.

This Kate has some pretty sassy style, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care what she wore to her wedding.  I’m going to go ahead and wager a guess that her dress won’t be anything like Diana wore in the ’80′s;  Kate Middleton has got some serious style chops already and with a world of designers at her feet I imagine her wedding style won’t disappoint.

I do wonder though, what would she wear if the world weren’t watching?

What’s in your purse series week forty five

This week’s What’s in Your Purse Series purse is from Kacey.  Thanks!

what's in her purse

This purse is a $25-30 JCPenney special that my husband actually spotted while we were out shopping.  He picked it up and said, “This looks like something you would like.  Do you want it?  Let’s get it.”  Can’t say no to that!  Plus it’s cute, gray, the perfect size, and comfortable to carry.  It also happens to have 9 separate compartments/pockets…good thing I just shove everything into the large middle one.  How’s that for organization?

Here’s what I’ve been carrying around…

  • Giant wad of receipts and old grocery lists.  This one is actually quite tame compared to the norm.  I run an etsy shop, so I’m always shipping packages.  The post office receipts are like a foot long and just end up tangled around the other contents of my purse.
  • Silver wallet from Target.
  • Movie stub from seeing “I Am Number Four” this weekend…loved it!  (Confession: I also found a piece of popcorn from the movie in my purse, but I threw it away.  Embarrassing!)
  • 2 Chocolates in case I need nutrients while out shopping.  Haha.
  • A zippered pouch that I won in a blog giveaway.  I keep my coupons and other little items in it.
  • A Hobby Lobby birthday gift card I got from the hubs last week.  (Don’t worry–I already spent 2/3 of it.  In fact, I bet the receipt is in that pile…)
  • House/mail/car keys.
  • Cell phone.
  • Mini calculator from the Dollar Store so I don’t have to do math in my head.
  • Lip balm.  This one happens to be Raspberry Lemonade.
  • Peanut granola bar.
  • Random assortment of pens…and no pad of paper.  Or sometimes I have 3 pads of paper and no pens.  Because that’s how I roll.

What I wore Wednesday nautical

by Allison on April 27, 2011 in Style, Women's Fashion · 17 comments

I’ve never done a What I wore Wednesday, but I’ve thought about it for awhile.  Usually what I wore on Wednesday isn’t super fancy, just jeans and a tee, but I was fancy yesterday.  I had to run errands so I got dressed.  Here’s what I wore.

nautical tee

My new favorite Nautical tee from Costco.  Love.

White House Black Market Skinny Jeans.  They fit like a glove.

Boots from Target.  I’ve gotten MILES out of those babies.

Belt: Thrifted from D.I.

Turquoise ring: Forever 21

Yellow bead necklace: DownEast Basics

Should we start a What I/You Wore Wednesday Series?  What say you?

Must have make-up primer

by Allison April 26, 2011Beauty

If you’re wearing any significant amount of make-up and are over the age of 17 {AHEM}, you should be wearing make-up primer. It’s basically spackle for your skin. Sounds terrible, but it’s magical. It fills in all the lines and problem areas you don’t want anyone to see, and it feels like silk. Go get [...]

bad fashion week part 6

blue jeans white stitching

You guys, I don’t really know what to say about these.  I mean, aside from the fact that they’re totally Jersey Shore.  Trashy looking.  Dated.  Hideous. They feel especially small town.  I see them all over town, with rhinestones on the bum no less, and I think “Ladies please, there’s another way!”. You know what’s [...]

hotel pool

In October we spent the night at the Hyatt hotel in Orange County, just a hop skip and a jump from Disneyland. Sadly we weren’t spending any time at Disneyland, we were headed to see my Rheumatologist!  Fun for everyone. I’ll tell you what, I’m totally sold on Hyatt hotels.  They’re just the right blend [...]

hot sandals for summer 2011

I can’t even wait for Summer.  Like, I’m already having fantasies about taking my kids to the local pool and reading magazines in the burning hot sun while I drink a cold beverage. It doesn’t feel really close in Utah, but it’s just around the corner. I wanted to share some of the hottest sandals [...]

Eastern European currencies

by Allison April 20, 2011Travel
eastern european currencies

Viktor decided early on in our trip planning that he didn’t want to be the translator for me 24/7 {see the packing list and travel guide we’ve chosen for our family trip to Europe}.  That includes translation of language, cultural customs, time zones, and currencies. Basically, Viktor wants to be the anti-tourist.  So he made [...]
