bugalug is another fantastic company born out of necessity, the greatest mother of invention{s}. Look at all the sweet barrettes and headbands for your adorable little girl{s}. I especially love the headbands because they’re made to stay put on even the most active head of hair {P being case in point}.

The Fourth of July is, next to Christmas, my favorite holiday of the year. I run in a local 5k, watch early morning hot air balloon launches, eat a pancake breakfast in the park, cheer for the annual patriotic parade, attend barbecues, swim, and top it all off with fireworks at dusk. The culmination of a perfect summer day.
This flag cake from Martha Stewart is the perfect combination of decoration and dessert, perfect to take along to a holiday barbecue. I’ve been making a variation of it for years and think I’ll try Martha’s recipe this Fourth. If any of you try it, send photos and I’ll post them on Petit Elefant.

If you live in the Salt Lake or Utah Valley area and are looking for something to do this summer, why not try some fun classes?
Nicole Hill and Mike and Alma Loveland teach photography, Photoshop, and Illustrator classes in Orem, Utah. Learn to take great pictures of your kids, then touch them up to make them look perfect! And use Illustrator to make great invitations or announcements. There really are so many possibilities!
Nicole’s photography class is full for July, but watch her blog for her August classes announcement.
Mike Loveland teaches Photoshop. He’ll teach you how to correct colors in your pictures, bringing out the absolute best in the photo. He’ll also cover how to remove unwanted elements from the photos or even combine two photos! The class is definitely worth taking. Check out some samples of his work.
Sign up for his July classes on Thursday evenings at 6:30-8:00 or 8:00-9:30. They start on July 10th and run through the 31st. Or keep checking back for August classes, which will be announced soon. (Check the link for more details.)

Alma Loveland teaches Illustrator, a program that people are less familiar with. You can use Illustrator to make great web graphics (she did the petit elefant banner) or fun things for print! Invitations and announcements are only the tip of the iceberg.
Sign up for her July classes on Wednesday evenings at 6:30-8:00 starting July 9th and running through the 30th, or an all-day seminar on Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break.
